Registered Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage is used to treat a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions, and is also an important preventative care measure to optimize health in people of all ages. Armed with a wealth of knowledge on physiology and anatomy, a BC RMT implements different massage techniques to relax your muscles and heal aches and pains, leading to a multitude of health benefits. Patients who have regular massage treatments find RMT services to be beneficial for day-to-day functioning as well as injury and disability rehabilitation. For athletes, sports massage therapy is especially helpful for performance, mobility, coordination and reflexes.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage uses the knowledge of anatomy and physiology to treat a wide-range of health conditions by implementing a variety of massage techniques. It is effective for reducing pain, treating injuries, and providing preventive care.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage uses a combination of Acupressure and Swedish massage techniques to release muscle tensions, reduce stress, and improve the body’s natural healing process.

Acupressure Massage

Acupressure Massage stimulates the body's circulatory, lymphatic, and hormonal systems. It helps the function of the immune system and the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Insurance Coverage for British Columbians

Your Registered Massage Therapist is a recognized health care profession in British Columbia by the following organizations:

Extended Health Care Group Benefit Plans

Many British Columbians have extended health benefits through a workplace group insurance plan. Coverage varies, often with an annual ceiling amount. Sometimes a physician's referral is required for reimbursement of claims. Check with your plan.

Medical Services Plan

British Columbians on premium assistance (low income) can claim part of their visit to a Registered Massage Therapist through their British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP). MSP will contribute up to $23 per visit for up to ten (10) total visits to supplementary health care providers per year. Patients may be required to supplement the cost of the RMT visit.

WorkSafeBC

WorkSafeBC covers injured workers for their visits to a Registered Massage Therapist. An injured worker must inform the Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) if the visit is due to a workplace injury. Not all RMTs accept injured workers claims.

ICBC

British Columbians injured in automobile accidents have ICBC insurance. Check with your ICBC adjuster regarding registered massage therapy coverage.

Veterans Affairs (DVA)

Canada’s Veterans are covered for treatment through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Check with your DVA adjudicator regarding registered massage therapy coverage. A medical referral is required.

RCMP

RCMP have massage therapy coverage. A medical referral is required.
